Photographer's Note
Built in a Gothic style, this church on the banks of the River Arno catches the eye from afar. Although small, it has a lush architecture. The building dates back to 1230 but was enlarged in Gothic style in 1350. It was once closer to the Arno River, but had to be moved to the present location in 1871. The name "Spina" (spine) was given in 1333, when the church received the relic of a thorn from the crown of Christ, now on display in another church.
