Resurrection - Gavelli - Sant’Anatolia (PG)
In the vault of the second niche on the left of the church of San Michele arcangelo di Gavelli Christ rising from the sepulcher, Calvary, the instruments of the Passion are depicted; St. Peter, the Handmaid, Pilate, Judas, the rooster, etc .; it is the work of Jacopo Zabolino di Vinciolo, one of the most interesting 15th century Spoleto painters.

Ciao Silvio,siamo arrivati all'episodio finale, anche se questo dipinto non mi sembra mostri la resurrezione ma la discesa dalla croce,comunque va sempre bene,specialmente quest'anno in cui anche lui ha dovuto risorgere in anticipo a causa del coprifuoco. Buona Pasqua e buon appetito! Luciano

'Resurrection' must be a Latin word. An apt upload for Easter Sunday. Generally any English word ending in 'ion' has come from Latin. Good sharpness and tight framing, and a Happy Easter to you!

I enjoy very much your series with wall paintings depicting scenes from the Holy Week. AS you wrote soe of them have so many interesting details, symbols known for those who know the story.
These days people seem to forget what Easter is about. In England it seems to be more a celebration of chocolate eggs.
