Ingurtosu # 1 Old mines

In Piscinas beach (western coast of Sardinia) ends the path of 10 km from the mining village “Ingurtosu”.

Here came, until the early twentieth century, in the wagons by means of a railway track the mineral extracted from Ingurtosu and Gennamari mines (lead, zinc, silver), transported on boats up to Carloforte, where it was loaded on ships bound for the smelters in Italy and Europe.

The building in the background is now a charming hotel that is born from the restoration of mineral stores.

In WS you can see sand dunes Piscinas, located in Western Sardinia coast.

The next post will be an opportunity to continue to tell the interesting history of these mines.
