Photographer's Note
This photo is from the Venice carnival from this February. In general the reason for people dressing up with masks during carnivals (in old times) was that they could have fun without other people recognising them. I am not 100% sure but if I remember right the Venice carnival is the oldest and most prestigious one. Now, it's a very commercial event, masks are sold everywhere, streets and squares are crowded, hotels get super expensive but it's worth it. There are many people who dress up in very elaborate costumes (like these ones) and spend the whole day posing to photographers. I don't know why they do it but I am glad as you can get nice photos easily.

I love those grotesque figures of Venice and I believe I will become one of them one day.
Great sharpness, much thanks to the quality of your camera. The colors are also great, with crimson contrasting to deep black. I would have cropped the little part of the column on the left side.

First a warm welcome to TE. From the three shots you have posted so far I can see that you have a distinctive style and you have a good eye. A very excellent compostion you have here. A very unusual costume to me. The details are very sharp. A few notes would have been helpful for us here. I would crop away the pillar on the left. Hi Ondrej,
I like here the situation of these facing characters, actually you're right there's something of a mirror effect here, well spotted ! I agree with you in that everything hapening in Venezia is way too commercial, and tourist rip off is a national sport there (personal experience inside), I'm glad I have now enjoyed this very nice place and certainly won't ever go back again !

una preciosa foto con un colorido soberbio!! :)Desde luego podría ser perfectamente un espejo, aunque imagino que se trtaba más bien de una "performance" carnavalera.
