Lago Combal

It is a daily walk on the mountains, escaping from the heat of the city, the air is clear and the colours really bright.
Walking from Coumayeur to the west you came in Val Veny, a valley which sides the western portion of the Monte Bianco massif. Huge glaciers coming from the massif (here on the right) reach the bottom of this valley with their load of rocks and therefore create, with their huge moraines, great dams which originate glacial lakes, such as lake Combal.
Nowadays, the sediments carried by the melting waters have already filled this depression, and Combal is not properly a lake but rather a marsh with pools and streams changing their course every year.
