Photographer's Note
When I posted my first photo of Pisa , I promised myself not to post images of the "Piazza dei Miracoli", nor of the famous "Leaning Tower"! Not that I don't find them beautiful, but simply to make room for other , less known places in the city or in the region.
Well, I couldn't help it finally : While leafing through my album, I remembered that these stairs really impressed me.
Normally, I don't suffer from vertigo at all, and I never imagined that I would feel the inclination of the tower while climbing.
Well I did ! I felt a bit giddy as I climbed the 293 steps which led us to the summit.
I was fascinated by the silver color of the marble and the wear caused by climbers over the centuries!
WS2 The leaning bell
WS1 I had to post this famous Leaning Tower after all !

Salut Marie-Louise,

Hello Marie Louise,
A very good close-up of these centuries-old stairs, completely worn off by the many feet that has stepped on them. Good clarity and sharpness.

Hello Marie-Louise,
I think this is the first photo I have seen from inside this very famous tower. At first the photo didn't impress me so much, but when I realized what it shows I changed my mind. It is remarkable to see how the marble steps have been so worn through the centuries, and just as amazing is the obvious tilt. I would have felt very uncomfortable climbing these steps. I like the WS of the leaning bell too.
Best regards,
Gert

Hi Marie Louise
I absolutely LOVE that you posted this photo! For me, I have never been to Pisa, never been to the leaning tower. SO for me, its great to actually see the INSIDE of the tower for the very first time - nobody ever posts these pics. So happy that you did and it turned out great. Cool to see how the stairs have been used. cheers

Belo trabalho.
Parabéns e Abraço,
Lucas

Bonjour MarieLouise, all three shots are worthy of a main post, and the very worn steps are a real eye catcher in the thumbnails.
They actually look quite dangerous, they are so worn.
Viewing the steps we get a sense of the leaning tower, I don’t think that I could cope, as I suffer from vertigo.
Thanks for sharing, lovely work.
Kind regards, Jean.

Hello Marie-Louise,
This is something unique and beautiful from inside the famous leaning tower. These steps have character, and I also like the patterns of wear and the designs in the marble.

Hello MarieLouise,
You have done well to resist showing the tower, until now!
It is an eye-catching feature and something you seem drawn to, no matter what your previous decisions.
This main photograph is definitely different.
The shiny surfaces of the steps and their undeniable wear are amazing to witness! No wonder you felt unsafe, giddy!
When we bought our house, which is a small, old farmhouse, the steps had been worn left-right, as people, wearing clogs, had used them for centuries. I can perfectly understand your trepidation!
I loved the photograph with the bell in prominence, too.
That could have been a main post.
Have a good day,
Bev :-)

Hello Marie Louise, I climbed the Leaning Tower many years ago, during my first visit to Pisa. Some years ago, I was afraid of vertigo and stayed down. Interesting view of these worn steps. Who was here before us? The photos in the Workshop are nice too.
Kind regards MAlgo

Hola, Marie-Louise!
Excelente trabajo!

Hi MarieLouise
A beautiful close up shot depicting a smaller portion of the bigger ancient architecture with part of the leaning column serves as stronger reference point. You captured the aged detail of the marble steps brilliantly in its natural colour and gloss where the lighting is just right. This is a stunning piece of history and your write-up adds so much interest to the image. Congrats
Best regards

Bonjour MarieLouise,
It's a good thing you posted this one, it clearly shows the leaning of the tower and many many people that passed here thru the ages. The WS pics ofcourse form a nieve visual reference. Very well done! Amitiés, Bert.

I saw these stairs worn many times in churches of europe, some of them are very damaged, as one I saw in UK. nice sample of the stairs. I climbed the tower of pisa once and in fact we feel there is something wrong.

The sights from Piza offer unique and different experience, one is climbing such an old steps, MarieLouise.
However, I can bet this was some interesting and intriguing climb.
The bell in the tower is attractive added WS.

Bonjour Marie Louise,
great series of photos. I see you have selected the more creative one of a less known subject for the main upload while the most popular sights are attached.
This view clearly shows that the structure is very old and frequented a lot :)
I didn't have a chance to visit it yet. I must go there to add my own footprint to the stairs...
Great reportage,

Marie-Louise, the stairs in marble leading to the top of the tower are sunk due to the millions of climbers that used them during centuries. Nice detail. Fine colors, good sharpness, interesting photo note, regards.

Bonjour Marie-Louise.
Yes, the number of People who have climbed the tower show the wear on the marble, while the shining silver makes the stairs look more noble. Very nice observation of yours, creative work, thanks for sharing.

Salut Marie-Louise
Amazing that such apparent indestructible stone can gradually be eroded away by people walking over it through the centuries. Remind me of rocky stream beds worn away by water and pebbles. Tfs!

Bonjour Marie-Louise,
Amicalement, Paul
