Photographer's Note
I apologise in advance for this not being an original POV of the Ponte Vecchio, but…….Last night my wife and I were looking through our shots of Italy and reliving the trip to Firenze we did last year, reminiscing about the fantastic week we spent, eating, drinking wonderful Italian red wine, and taking in the sights. We’d had a fabulous day, stood in line at The Uffizi for two hours, then marvelled at the art displayed in this incredible gallery, wandered down to a brilliant restaurant by the river for a late lunch then walked up to the Piazza Michelangelo to take the view out over Firenze. It was getting quite late into the afternoon when we walked back across the Ponte a Santa Trinita to head back to our hotel. The sun was getting quite low in the west, bathing the Ponte Vecchio in late afternoon light. We stood in the middle of the Ponte a Santa Trinita for quite a while waiting, hoping, for the gentle breeze to drop and give us a wonderful reflection of the Ponte Vecchio in the river, but, not today. How I love this beautiful city. When I come back in my next life I want to be an Italian living in Firenze.

Bonjour Peter,
Une belle prise de vue, les façades ensoleillées sont bien lumineuses et contrastent bien avec la surface de l'eau.
Le ciel avec ses nuages menaçant complète bien cette compo.
Bonne journée

Hi Peter,
What makes this image attractive is the warm light of the late afternoon sun, as well as the lovely cloud formation directly behind the bridge. As is often said, the right light makes all the difference to the end result. Very well captured.

Hi Peter.
You chose an absolute cliche here! But you did it well, and in a wonderful light. The dense and extremely well delineated clouds make this one stand out, on top of the sharpness of the detail. For me, it would be coming back and being an Italian living in Siena, which is not far away, and a lot quieter. I wonder if you have been there. Still, Florence isn't bad...

Andrew

G'day Pete!
Great subject matter and architecture here - I can see why it appeals to you, and beautifully captured, too. If I'm really picky, I'd say there's just a little too much river in the foreground, and maybe the brightness & saturation could be tweaked a tad.
Best wishes,
Jeff

There is a very good reason why classic PsOV are .....classic. However we each bring something unique to a scene. Here the late light and the wonderful cloud formations are huge bonuses in this view. Even though your long wait didn't reward you with the still reflections you were hoping for, the reflected colour is still a good feature of the image. Technically spot on too!

Hello Peter,
light is well captured on this bridge and POV, although classic, is very successful.

Hi Peter,
This beautiful unique yellow bridge is wonderfully complimented by the varying shades of blue from the sky and river.
The puffy clouds and soothing reflections make for a very peaceful view of this stunning archtecture.

Hi Peter,
Yes, this is not an original POV on Ponte Vecchio. But the light is so beautiful it make it a great shot ! The sun warms the stones of the bridge and the atmosphere is very quiet. I agree with you about Firenze, it's a wonderful city. I've just been there once, more than 10 years ago, but I still remember the great moments I spent there !

Olivier

Bonjour Peter,
sans doute le plus beau pont du monde, du moins le plus original. Sous un ciel magnifique et des couleurs chaudes (les lumières douces).
Un POV bien choisi doublé d'un cadrage efficace.
Amicalement.

Peter,
Very excellent image of this very famous bridge, I was here myself 8 or so year ago. One of my favorite city in Italy so far. This bring me back wonderful memories of that trip. Fantastics cloud formation, looks like there some wind, I can see the ripple in the river cause by the wind. Beautiful light and color, good composition. Well done.

Peter,
Well there;s a picture which brings back a few fond memories. I think it was about 20 years ago i was traveling France and Italy by train and camped in Florence for three days. I was alone and had all the time to take beautiful pictures. But all that time i wondered how much nicer i would be to be there with someone you love. And i promised myself to go back one day. And allthough i am happily married i still have to go back.
I will try to fiend some of my old slides and see if there is a reflection there i will let you know!

Hi Peter, Beautiful light falling on this unusual and iconic bridge in Florence. Every window is clearly seen and the yellow of low sun is appealing. Agree Florence would be an ideal place to live, next time round..TFS. Murray.
PS I notice much more water flowing than a couple of months ago.

Ciao Pietro, nice light here. The POVs not so original, think I have one of these in my collection somewhere, but the quality of your photo is superb, with good sharpness and contrast. Nice job, hmmm...now this is making me nostalgic for Tuscany...next time! TFS and I hope you;re enjoying a nice cold one on the back porch, Lisa
