Photographer's Note
She had walked a long way, and did so every day, to be in St. Peter's Square, Rome to join the vigil for the dying Pope. Everyday she knelt cutting out paper hearts with a blunt pair of scissors and handed them to everyone that passed by in the crowded square.

So do I. This image is really strong, with a great symbol sharpness. The contrast between bloody feet and the hearts is brilliant and the use of b&w is just the right thing, with deep black areas, renforcing the traguc climax of this shot. Could be a press photo, well well done.

A very expressive, touching, deeply meaningful composition!
Love/devotion sweep away any pain! Excellent B&W!

Hi David,
I really like this shot, it is so simple and it says a lot... People go beyond their limits for faith , this amuses me. I like your note too, when I saw the photo I was wondering what those 2 little hearts where doing there.

hi David,
I think the paper hearts make the picture a weird combination..otherwise it could call for a very religious scene...but as we do not see scissors or her face or as such, paper hearts make a confusion..I know I am not very clear about my thoughts..maybe I am a little afraid of some very Christian symbols (omens, crucifiction, stigmata etc)..
I loved the tones of your bw..all very beautiful..
