Photographer's Note

ENGLISH: Most people know Caserta for the royal palace which is situated 10 kilometres away. This is the mediaeval village of Casertavecchia, as opposed to the modern day Caserta one which lies closer to Naples. Casertavecchia ("old Caserta") lies at the foot of the Tifatini Mountains and is 400 metres above sea level. It was founded in 861AD and from Roman rule fell into the hands of the Lombards, the Saracens, the Aragonians, the Swabians and the Bourbon. The village has some interesting architecture and great views of the surrounding Province of Campania and Naples.
