Cliffs of Moher

I am not going to post my photos from Ireland chronologically, so before posting more photos from Dublin, here’s one taken in the west of the country last Sunday. Seen here are the Cliffs of Moher, one of the most popular tourist destinations in the country.

The Cliffs of Moher (Irish: Aillte an Mhothair), located in County Clare, are among the highest cliffs in Europe. They run for 14 kilometres and their height varies from 120m to 214m above the Atlantic Ocean, seen here are some of the highest cliffs. The name comes from the Irish Gaelic “Mothar”, meaning ruined fort. A fort from the first century BCE stood near the cliffs, but was demolished in 1808.
