Photographer's Note
Widely respected as the jewel in Ireland’s gardening crown, Altamont Gardens are an enchanting blend of formal and informal gardens with riverside walks covering over 40 acres (16 hectares). The estate gains much of its character from the many mature trees, natives in the avenues and woodland areas, and exotic specimens throughout the gardens. altamont gardensLawns bisected by sculpted yews slope down to a lake surrounded by rare trees and rhododendrons and lead in turn to a very different garden featuring exotic shrubs and trees.A fascinating walk through the Arboretum, Bog Garden and Ice Age Glen with its canopy of ancient oaks and huge stone outcrops leads the visitor to the River Slaney. When Corona North, who lovingly cared for the gardens for over 50 years died in 1999, the gardens were left to the State at her request. Ongoing restoration and maintenance continues under the stewardship of the Office of Public Works (OPW).

Hello Fred,
Magnificent pic. of this corner in the garden. Its natural surrounding with multi-green tones with water-plants mingling with the sky mirror on the water surface.
Eye-glasses bridge reflection on the far side, is a good focal point.
Excellent light management and depth, all in fine clarity.
Have a nice weekend,
Ike

Hi Fred,
Your photo compliments your note, its not hard to see why this garden has such an accolad, a million shades of green and those touches of color. The bridge iisvery cool, it reminds me of the red bridge you always see in Japanese gardens, but with a local twist.
The first time I ever went to Altamaount it was to see the house, and discovering the gardens was a really pleasant surpsirse. Cool photo.
Cheers

Dia duit Fred
Wow just looking at this I can feel the blood pressure dropping. Such cool, green tones accentuate the tranquil mood and peaceful place you have found for us. The reflections are delightful and the stone bridge is the icing on the cake. Beautiful photography, congratulations.
Warmest wishes
Lisa
