Photographer's Note

I shot this on a clear cold day when the wind was starting to whip up a bit. The river is a lovely example of what a difference a bit of care and management can make. Ten years ago this river was very polluted, and there were little or no fish in it. Now, after the construction of a sewage treatment plant, and projects to create an accessway and spawning beds for salmon and native trout the river is again thriving and is attracting angling fishermen from near and far. It is a testament to the connection between man and the environment being recognised and nurtured in this scenic part of Ireland.
