Akureyi Impression
Today three impressions Akurreyri.
Akureyri is the 4th largest city in Iceland with almost 20,000 inhabitants and the largest city outside the Reykjavik region.
It is also called the capital of the North (höfuðborg norðurlands).
Akureyri lies at the end of the Eyjafjörður and therefore has an open connection with the ocean. That makes the city attractive for cruise ships as can be seen in the workshop 2 photo and the visit of the MSC Meraviglia.
The main photo shows that Akureyri is a modern city with good graffiti.
At workshop-photo 1 you can see the "Bláa kannan (the blue jug) café", situated in the center of town. It opens its doors in the morning with the new baked bread. At lunchtime the coffee house has soup and the dish of the day. Cakes, sandwiches and fresh coffee are served all day. In the evening there is a relaxed café atmosphere.
