Photographer's Note

Aptly named the "Capital of the North", Akureyri is Icelands second biggest settlement with a population of roughly 18'000. It sits at the end of a long fjord called Eyafjördur and is a good base from where to explore the sights of northern Iceland like Husavik, Sigluffjördur or lake Myvatn.
Populated first in the late 16th century by Danish settlers it has grown steadily over the years unlike many other northers settlements. An important center with an university it serves as the center for northern Iceland
