Photographer's Note
Not many people know that there is a side entrance to Acropolis where the queue is much shorter. That was not a problem for me because I was in Athens not only after season and off the peak times (in the early morning) but also in the time of Covid pandemic. I remembered my first visit to Athens and the moment I entered the Acropolis through the main entrance. It was so very impressive! Well, that was indeed the intention of ancient builders. There is a special structure in ancient Greek architecture called a propylaea, propylea or propylaia (Greek: προπύλαια) which is a monumental gateway. The Propylaea of the Acropolis are probably the most spectacular. Remembering that feeling, I really wanted my wife and daughter to experience the same thrill of entering this extraordinary place. In this photo you see a fragment of the Propylaea. It is an entrance and also an exit… We are used to a decimal system because we have ten fingers, computers prefer binary system. TrekEarth on the other hand counts in 18s. 18 photos make one page on TrekEarth. So having uploaded 18 photos from Athens, a round number according to TrekEarth standards, I will move to photos from another location for a change.

Hi Mariusz, this is good news, certainly useful for those visiting Athens in the near future. Hopefully soon, this stop to travel is really sad and is also affecting this site full of vintage photos ... ahaha ... you were perhaps the last to take a trip abroad among the members. The photo is really excellent, great perspective and many geometries in top quality. Have a nice day and thanks,Luciano

Hello Mariusz,
Well, your notes solve the curious reference to 18!
This is a photograph which makes us aware of the magnificence of this Greek building, which has survived amazingly through so many generations.
Just the experience of looking upwards, makes us feel a little inferior in stature to what we are are viewing!
These cleanly cut, honey-coloured stones have a great impact, viewed against the blue sky.
I like that you have filled the frame with the details and created an excellent sense of depth.
My warm regards,
Bev :-)

Hello Mariusz,
The upwards POV from this corner had intesified the impression of the ancient pillars and beams, endured so many years and still impose a wonderful sight.
A favorable light ptrvailed which you took full advantage of.
Good afternoon,

Czesc Mariusz!
A good upward pov. You managed to exclude all of the ubiquitous scaffolding here which is no mean feat! Superb sharpness and a nice warm cold color contrast. Tfs!

Hello Mariusz,
An excellent upward POV to show the impressive pillars and walls of the Acropolis complex. The sunlight brought out the warm colours so well, especially against the blue sky. Also the play of light and shadows is attractive.

Hello Mariusz,
I didn't know about that second entrance to the Acropolis. I do now :)
This picture shows us the monumental aspect of the Acropolis in a way it impresses everyone.
Phenomenal without any other tourist in sight.
Not many will have experienced this yet.
Best regards, Paul

To juz z notki wiem dlaczego dopytywales o moje setne zdjecie z Gruzji. Swietna kompozycja bo z jednej strony szeroki kadr i taka perspektywa kojarzy mi sie z nowoczesnoscia, z drugiej widzimy starozytne arcydzielo.
Kolorystyka i jakosc jak zwykle bez zarzutu
pozdrawiam
Piotr

Hello Mariusz.
Wonderful this view of the Propylaea, with the perspective upwards, which make them even bigger, ideal the simplicity and elegance of this architecture, great light and color.
How good that you decided to travel despite the Covid, in Spain everything was very bad and there were practically no flights anywhere, so I have lost a year without making any trip, it depresses me ...
The management of color and light are magnificent, highlighting the beauty and sharpness of the image.
Very well done. I like
Have a good day.
Very best regards.
Luis.
