Photographer's Note
Away from the more touristy part of the town of Symi on the Greek island of the same name. This boarded up old house has all the character, style, and colours of this picturesque little town and just needs a little loving care, to restore it to its former glory.
I apologise for the necessity to add a watermark to my images; I am trying to make it as discreet as possible. But in recent weeks I have discovered that some of my images posted on TE have been hi-jacked and are now being used promotionally on other websites, without my permission. I like this site and want to continue posting so this is the only way I can see to perhaps discourage this problem.

Hello Brian,
Now, doesn't that seem like an interesting project!
I think I would love to spend time there!
You have revealed the textures of the abandoned house really well and I love how the mixed colours of wall paint make those wavy reflections, linking the viewers with the scene.
There is a good sense of scale and well placed elements.
Have a lovely day,
Bev :-)

Hello Brian,
Yes, I suppose this splendid building needs some loving care but, to restore it to its former glory, I suspect will also cost a lot of money too - not a commodity which abounds at the moment in Greece.
But, from the photographic point of view, dilapidation always works well and you have captured the motley colours of flaking paint and crumbling stonework to excellent effect here. The building stands out well against its surroundings and there are some beautiful and colourful reflections on the water. The inclusion of some people adds human interest as well as a fine sense of scale.
Gorgeous rich colours, lovely light and stunning details and sharpness.
Lovely!
Kind Regards,
John.

Hello Brian,
you wrote in your note it´s a less touristic side of Symi, but for me it´s equally picturesque as your previous shots from this island. And even if the house need some renovation it looks still beautiful and has its own charm.
Delightful, vivid colors and really nice reflections in the water.
Kind regards
Krzysztof

Hello Brian ,
I like a lot this kind of building . May be it has to be restored . But like this it has a lot of charm , too . Fine framing in the square format , even I shlould have cropped the piece of boat on the left .

Hello Brian,
It certainly has character this waterside house; one wonders how long it will be before it is bought up for renovation in the current economic crisis. I like the framing and saturated colours; also the light and reflections. Thanks for sharing.

Hello Brian,
what a lovely water`s edge location, complete with your own moorings.
Your shot shows all the lovely features and character of the buildings, all that`s needed now is a lick of paint and a lot of effort and TLC.
A really nice photo.
Regards Les.

Hello Brian
Well I was thinking about going to Greece later in the year and I think I need to take a paint brush or too - it looks like it needs a lick of paint! It's actually quite nice to see an image of Greece where the colours are not pristine, (or just blue and white)- it adds a more realistic dimension to how I view the place. It's a great building though - it seems to be screaming out to be renovated.
I like the reflection on the water - nice muted colour palette.

Hello Brian,
I like this place from your other photos and this one is also quite interesting. Tighter framing makes the eye focus on more detailed composition. You might disagree with me, but maybe it will look even better with the top slightly cropped? What do you think? Nevertheless, very well done composition, colors and light.
Thanks for sharing

Brian
cette façade usée par le temps est vraiment très photogénique. Tu en as réalisé une excellente photo, superbement composée dans ce format carré bien choisi. La lumière, qui donne ces reflets ondoyants et ravive les couleurs, est vraiment très belle.
Amicalement

Hi Brian,
Another beautitful photo with really rich color and tone. Even with the debris by the waer, teh house are in splatter of different paint colors, making it very coatically beautiful, if there is such description :)
The composition works well in this square format. Best of all you captured the essence of the place well with the inclusion of the people going on with their way of life here.

Hello Brian,
this house would need a little facelift to regain its luster, but for the photographer, she would lose the charm it exudes on your composition.
Good work

Hi dear Brian
What a sweet little town and this old building is very characteristic and quaint. I love the textures on the wal and the golden reflections it has thrown are really gorgeous. The light is wonderful and the inclusion of the people and boats adds to the character.
Thanks for sharing, have a beautiful Friday
