Petra is a region of unique beauty. It was named after the famous stone of Kalikatsou, this peculiar and imposing stone that seems to come out of the sea. This is the stone where many excercitants have chosen to live and managed to make it a relatively capacious space of living, carving stairs on it, a pond, places for charcoals and candles leaving their traces for ever.

There are several traditional stories regarding Kalikatsou like the following: At the Monastery of John Theologian there’s a secret door leading to a tunnel. This tunnel crosses the whole south side of Chora and finally reaches the Stone. It is said that it was constructed so that the monks could transfer the scull of St. Thomas as well as the relics and treasures of the Monastery to protect them from pirate raids on the island.
The Rock of Kalikatsou is a result of the volcanic action of Patmos that is related with the sinking of the African Plate under the Eurasian Plate. This action took place about 4 million years ago.

Thanks for reminding the warm and sunny summer days. This is a very good place for this; a place with a signature with its unique rock formation and peaceful atmosphere. Your POV and perspective is very fine, presence of the people on top of the rock is very handy in order to scale the size of this great rock formation. I love the perspective and composition and I'm sorry to have to put a default image, but this will come in handy for things to be corrected. I see her with little definition. All this we learn from others, and see when you take a long time in TE, you will realize what they've been improving your photos.

I like the atmosphere that you have captured in this shot - with the white yacht against the soft blue tones.

Kalimera Ourania,
This impressive rock, besides it's ancient mith, had an imaginary look as a human head, turned to the other side, in a resting pose. Don't know how this looks from it's other side - but imagined that way.
Fine shot over the beach, including people there gave a vivid extra dimension.
