Photographer's Note

The Santorini Caldera, also the island of Thira, was an ancient Volacno-island in the Mediterranean sea that had erupted some 3600 years ago: known to volcanologists as the Minoan eruption, the largest and strongest eruption that exploded the cone and than sunk to sea.
Picture taken during a flight enroute to Verona, Italia, at an approx. altitude of 11.1KM (34,000 feet), view from north towards the south.
