Photographer's Note
A view from a terrace overlooking the rooftops of the picturesque little island town of Symi, Greece. Most of the houses are well kept and painted colourfully whereas some are still shells or in the process of renovation.

Hello Brian,
The main TE site seems to be down at the moment, so I am entering this via the beta site. Just hope it works OK. Your position on the terrace offers a good overview of the town with the buildings rising steadily up the hillside opposite. The image has very good light, colours and sharpness.

Hello Brian,
I like the little glimpse of the fihing harbour far below. Good sharpness and nice warm cold color contrasts between the red and blue with excellent colour saturation and density. Superb repetition of patterns and shapes formed by the houses. Looks a little like Samos. Tfs!

Very well composed. The clear sharp images bring out the effect of "well kept & painted" houses. The neat red tiled roof tops and the similarity of the painted walls create a connect that binds the composition. The patches of deep bottle green over the light green grasslands add to the variety of the photograph.
The details of the blue sunshade and the furniture on the roof top at the bottom of the picture gives us an idea of Daily Life. The road along the pier connects the three distinct levels which I see in the Photograph.
Thanks for sharing.

Hello Brian,
I like the way that the houses seem to zig zag through the scene, from the balcony in the FG to the top of the far hill everything is pin sharp in an imaginative composition.
Best regards Les.

Hello Brian,
Most pictures of Symi show its beautiful houses from on the sea. Here you prove that also other viewpoints pay homage to the beauty of the island.
I understand that visiting Symi means a lot of climbing and descending. But well worth it.
The advantage is that the houses aren't hidden behind each other.
I really like this bright, clear, colourful and sharp picture.
Best regards, Paul

Hi Brian,
Greece has many charming places to offer and this is certainly one of these.Colorful and very picturesque(different from Santorini´s architecture, but equally captivating).
I like your POV,which provides us with magnificent view of Symi-its architecture and unique location on a steep hill.
Superb presentation with vivid and well contrasting colors.
Kind regards
Krzysztof

Même si j'ai préféré tes vues plus rapprochées de ce village, cette vue générale ne manque pas d'intérêt.

Hi Brian,
normally we got the same look uphill from down below in the harbour; so it´s very interesting to get this view from opposite side.. and it´s of course still a place, where one would like to be for a longer time than holidays..
thanks for sharing, see you soon, Bernd

Hi Brian
never get tired of these views!
as I scroll down the page to view the entire image, I realize i actually prefer the photo without the sky.
Try it, it looks good with just the buildings, and the hillside...just a thought - not that its better, its just another way the photo could have been cropped.
the dimmed lighting is just right, not too bright, not too dark. lovely colors and ambiance.
its hard to go wrong with greece right!
cheers
craig
