Photographer's Note

The "Platia Ippokratous" is the most important square in the center of Rhodes old town. In the centre of the square stands the "Castellania fountain" also called "Ippokratous Fountain" with an owl on the top. At the square there is also the old Knights Hospitaller Castellan Palace to the east with a large staircase and the Chadrevan Mosque to the west."

Around the corner is the Seahorse Fountain, also famous in these parts. The fountain is one of the few original remnants of the Knights Hospitaller days. The anglicised version of the name is 'Hippocrates' Square. Hippocrates was a famous ancient Greek physician and even today doctors still take a Hippocratic oath. Rhodes can be reached by hydrofoil from Marmaris in Turkey as well as direct flights in pre Covid days. Despite the many tourists, the old city in Rhodes remains one of the best preserved mediaeval towns in Europe.
