Photographer's Note
A view inside the unfinished church that lies on the outskirts of the town of Lindos on the island of Rhodes, Greece. A noose dangling from the ceiling and obviously used for hoisting materials up into the lofty heights of this magnificent new church. This shot was taken in 2009, and if anyone on TE, has visited since I would like to know if any progress has been made. When I was there, goats and sheep were grazing in and around the church, and there was no sign of any activity at all. It was a real experience standing alone inside though, despite being a little spooky.

Hello Brian - Almost monochromatic this is a beautifully quiet shot. I like the atmosphere very much and can imagine this interior being a cool retreat from the afternoon sun. Especially attractive I like the fall of light on the floor which corresponds to the windows up in the dome. The rope also benefits from the same illumination and makes a somewhat bizarre element in the shot..... not quite what one expects to see in a church interior! As always your light management is good and you have an excellent range of tones here. Warm regards Rosemary

I find the hanging noose a real source of fascination; the mind runs wild as to what it might have been used for. Excellent light management in difficult circumstances.
