Photographer's Note
This portrait was taken at Margarites - a colourful cretan village not far from Rethimno, where the art of pottery has been kept alive over the centuries.
The village is well known for producing all kinds of pottery but in particular the pithos, which were also produced in Minoan times and which now are produced in a great variety of sizes and colors beginning with smallest ones (not bigger than a walnut) and to giant ones as those that can be seen at Minos Palace in Knossos.
There's a potter's workshop almost in every house.
Tech note:
To fade the colors a little I made a copy of background layer, desaturated it and selected SoftLight method of layer mixing in Photoshop.
I also will post original, more colorful version as WS. I really can not chose which one is better. Maybe you will help me?

A simple, but loaded photograph full of symbolism! I adore things artisan, moves away to me a little from the technology all that encircles us.
Good photo

A good picture of a person at work. I like the sharpness of the face and the composition. Great work.

I always like potraits of pepole when they are presented in their own enviroment, like in this photo. It tells a story behind the face. Well composed with soft colours.

I love this kind of “daily life” shots. The concentration of the artisan on his craft has been captured in an excellent way. I just created a B/W version of the picture in the Workshop. Hope you’ll like it!
