Monastery Chrysopigi
The Sacred Patriarchal Monastery & Stavropegic Chrysopigi located in Chania, Crete, at a distance of 3 kmthe city, the route to the port of Souda. It is dedicated to the Virgin Mary and celebrates Source Zoodochus Friday of Easter. Thousands flock to presentation-nites of devotion to the miraculous image of Our Lady. The Sacred Patriarchal and Chrysopigi abbey founded in Chania during the last period of Venetian rule (late 16th century).

The founder was John Briefcase Hanioti, Doctor of medicine and philosophy, important person of his time with great effect on society of Chania.

During the Venetian, During the Ottoman period, the intellectual tradition of the monastery and the monastery continued on home-converted original Stavropigio.During the re-attitudes, fathers participated in the historical struggles of Crete.
