Photographer's Note

This is our half brain as it is displayed in the exhibition of Ellinikos Cosmos in Athens until March 16th.

A unique exhibition where all activities/exhibits are designed to arouse curiosity through play, fun and surprises and facilitate learning through a hands-on experience of science & the use of all the senses.

Through 42 activities/exhibits the exhibition is a tour around the functions and capabilities of the human brain, the most important component of our body and the wondrous way it creates and coordinates movement, feeling and thought.

The brain looks like grey porridge with strange patterns engraved on it. It is however the most amazing object in the entire universe. It can learn Chinese, Spanish or Swahili depending on who is talking to it. It can discover and construct spaceships, microscopes, pyramids and pacemakers. It can learn to balance and move the body on a high wire of an acrobat or compose music. Although confined within the cranium, it can sent its thought to the centre of the earth, the distant stars or back in time to when humans lived in caves. Taking a look into the way the brain functions is an exciting and thrilling journey of discovery of our very own self.

The exhibition creates a pleasant and welcoming atmosphere, giving people of different age groups and backgrounds the motivation to explore. It is designed for young children and adults, as well as, healthcare professionals.
