Photographer's Note

Another shot of the Athens Academy in Omonoia situated north of the Acropolis. There is a bus station at Akadimia right in front of the building, allowing easy access to other parts of Athens, otherwise a walk to Omonoia Metro 5 blocks or so north west. The main building of the Athens Academy was constructed in 1885 and gives us some idea of how the ruins atop the Acropolis might have once looked. 'The building was designed as part of an architectural "trilogy" in 1859 by the Danish architect Theophil Hansen, along with the University and the National Library'.

It is not recommended to be in this area after dark but it is perfectly safe during the day and early evening. That's true of a lot of places these days. More info here:
