Photographer's Note

I have published two earlier photos named "Flood ... 13" and "Flood ... 20". They both showed the completely destroyed station at Heimersheim, where Ahr valley railway line was interrupted on a stretch of 1500 m.

They managed to lay at least one new track (of two) and resumed train traffic with effect from November 8th, 2021. The service is still limited to one train per hour, and only Bad Bodendorf, Bad Neuenahr and Ahrweiler stations are served. Heimersheim still lacks a platform.

As the next three kilometers were not destroyed, the line will be prolonged to Walporzheim via Ahrweiler Markt within a few weeks.

Further success messages cannot be expected before a few years have gone, because every part of railway infrastructure has been destroyed upstream from Walporzheim.
