Go back to start for more fairytale town architecture.


BOPPARD, a small tourist town on the most visited part of the Rhein, between Koblenz and Mainz, was the first place we stopped. A surprisingly short drive from where we live, but a wholly different world.


THIS PICTURE shows one of the entry gates into the old town from the Rhein. Colourful timber framed houses would become a big feature on the first part of our trip. You could call it a companion shot to a previous shot I posted from this location. Shot against strong light, but I'm pleased with the way it turned out.


With corona we had to abandon our far away trip this summer and went to Germany instead (which we ended up really liking). With the second wave of corona hitting hard, we are now beginning to wonder whether we'll be able to travel at all during our All Saints holiday. Hard and strange times...
