Gendarmenmarkt

This is a photo of the Gendarmenmarkt in central Berlin, which is home to the Konzerthaus Berlin (Berlin Concert Hall, not in this picture) and two cathedrals: the Französischer Dom (French Cathedral, foreground, official name: Französische Friedrichstadtkirche) and the Deutscher Dom (German Cathedral, background, official name: Neue Kirche). Both churches were built in the early 18th century. The French one is a couple of years older and was built by Huguenots. Most of the buildings around Gendarmenmarkt were destroyed or badly damaged in WW2, but all have been restored, although some of them not before the German reunification in 1990.
