The first written mentions of the mill go up at 1068.
This mill was built according to the will of the princess Ermengard, widow of Raymond-Bernad, count de Béziers and Agde.
Its machinery made it possible to feed the lake and the basins of the castle of Lavagnac, located commune of Montagnac, built at the 17th century and 18th century.
The mill, historic building and private property, is located at 4 km of Saint-Pons-de-Mauchiens, between the Castle of Lavagnac and the borough of Bélarga.

Saint-Pons-de-Mauchiens is a French commune, located in the department of the Herault of the Languedoc-Roussillon area, populated of 513 Saint-Ponais, distributed on 14 km², that is to say 37 hab./km².
The village forms part of these villages of the area called "Circulades" for their made architecture of rings dwellings concentric, and surrounded of ramparts, of which the most probable purpose was to support defense.
