The maori players of the New Zealand team could call to any great Kahuna lying out there in the kingdom of the spirits, perform any warrior haka... that was simply not enough : the Spirit of Rugby fled the maoris and found a new heaven, up there at the Eiffel tower.

Yesterday, the spirit was french, the NZ team collapsed, the France rugby team surprizingly outscored the All Blacks 20 to 18 and sent them home until next Rugby World Cup.

Despite a french victory, I'm a bit sad when New Zealand looses a match, it's like the spirit of rugby has lost too.

(And as whenever England wins a game, rugby looses too ;D, I hope the french will beat them on the semifinal next week... That's at least what our australian, kiwi, welsh and irish friends asked.)

I was a believer the All Black team could go all the way, now I'm a Springbok supporter.

The fields below the Eiffel tower host a giant rugby ball which promotes NZealand. A nice initiative from the NZ tourism board, haka performances and dances all the day, and for today a special greeting for the french victory. Hats off to the kiwi fair play.

Seen from Paris, the Rugby World Cup is like a breath of fresh air, spring coming at fall season, bringing lots of foreign tourists with a more friendly atmosphere than the usual one.
