Photographer's Note

This litle creature discovered the funny shape of what we call Lapiaz in Chartreuse, close to Grenoble area. The funny shape of the rocks is due to dissolution of karstic rock by acid water. Some of the holes are quite small , while some others are around 40m deep. People that are used to perform spelunking in that area are actually going from the top of the moutains to their basis, following the trail that water has built over millions of years. Sometimes, water is still there, this is then what we call , in a poetic way, " Rivieres sans Etoiles".In Chartreuse, especially in Dent de Crolles, there is around 55 km of galeries and many possibilities of enjoying the Dent from inside.
