Photographer's Note

The Cathedral of St Etienne of Bourges ( region of Berry ), built between the late 12th and late 13th centuries, is one of the great masterpieces of Gothic art, in France.

Its stained-glass windows are particularly magnificent. They stand for a " Mur de lumière "
in french, (" Light Wall " in english ) and they adorn the three levels of the choir .

The builders of cathedrals were obsessed by the quest for clearness. This " Lux continua " accompanied the surge in spirituality of the 12th century.
