Formerly "Door Royée", it opened on the Carolingian royal palate. It is told that it is from there that Roland in 778, disobeying his uncle Charlemagne, escaped from the palate to go to fight the Moors with Roncevaux. As with each door of the city, with its feet a source runs which feeds a laundrette and feeding trough
