Photographer's Note
Le Quai Saint-Etienne est sans doute un peu moins photographié que le Quai Sainte-Catherine qui lui fait face . Il faut dire qu'il est moins long , que les maisons sont moins hautes et moins typiques . Mais il ne manque pas d'intérêt , avec ces bâtisses de styles divers , et surtout l'ancienne église Saint-Etienne (aujourd'hui Musée de la Marine) , comme enchassée dans la rangée de constructions .
Après avoir bénéficié d'un bon éclairage pour la vue d'en face , je me disais qu'en patientant un peu (en se rendant en famille à la fête foraine de la Sainte-Catherine toute proche) , il serait meilleur en fin de journée pour celle-ci . Mais ce quai est orienté vers le nord-ouest , et en hiver , le soleil est bas et décline rapidement , reussissant tout juste à atteindre le clocher de l'église , sans illuminer vraiment les façades . Par contre , les reflets étaient intéressants , alors j'ai fait pour le mieux .

Very attractive houses on a neat line with all the boats in front. Excellent reflections in the almost totally calm water. The slightly lighter blue area nearest the buildings gives an elegant effect to the composition.

Ce quai effectivement moins photographié que l'autre en face ne manque pourtant pas d'intérêt
Ta capture de ce superbe reflet double la beauté de cet alignement de façades enserrant l'ex église St Etienne.
L'image avec ce sujet dans ce V renversé vers la droite est parfaitement composée et suffisament nette pour en goûter les détails.
Peut être as-tu déjeuner au Vieux Honfleur que l'on voit juste à côté du Musée de la Marine.
Honfleur devenue la banlieue de Paris est une source inépuisable pour les photographes et il ne faut pas bouder son plaisir d'y photographier ce qui a déja été vu car comme ici ton post certes s'ajoute à une longue liste mais vient se situer dans les meilleurs pour ce cadrage là.

This quai is famous for its beauty and its reflections and this is one of the best examples I have seen. splendid light and lovely symmetrical composition. The clarity is excellent. Really an image for boat and harbour lovers like myself.

Bonjour Denis,
Voilà une photo qui attire le regard dans la galerie avec le rendu des teintes, notamment l'ocre des façades qui ressort très bien dans cet environnement bleuté.
En plus, le cadrage a bien exploité le reflet sans avoir l'aspect parfois pesant d'une composition 50-50.

I have seen quite a few shots of Honfleur but none more beautiful than this. It is such a fine representation of the quayside, almost symmetrical in its composition and yet there is a gentle movement into the shot from right to left.
