The Sorgues castle, Cornus

A masonry existed at the 10th 11th centuries, having belonged to the lord of Montpaon, before becoming a castle at the 13th century, and since the 15th century a manor, now transformed into bed and breakfast and guest table.

It is located close to a resurgence, source of the SORGUES river.

_ The SORGUES river, takes its source at 570 meters high, in a side of CAUSSE of LARZAC, close to Cornus, near the castle of Sorgues, by an important resurgence. It runs in Aveyron to throw itself in the DOURDOU of CAMARÈS, very close to Vabres-l'Abbaye, after a course of 46 km, and the crossing of a catchment area of 279 km². Its flow can pass from a minimal flow of 0.79 m³/s to a maximum flow of 320 m³/s. Sorgues river description.

CORNUS is a french commune, located in the department of Aveyron of the Midi-Pyrénées area, populated of 364 Cornusois in 1999, distributed out of 93 km², that is to say 4 hab./km².

Cornus mentioned in 1070, is a village of South-Aveyron close to the source of SORGUES river.
The commune counts three hamlets: La Bastide-des-Fonts, Canals, Sorgues.

The commune of Cornus is also crossed by the ORB river, and is in the PARC NATUREL RÉGIONAL DES GRANDS CAUSSES.
