"Wooden church in stone church"
Sainte-Marie's Cathedral in Saint Bertrand de Comminges was built from the 12th century with a roman church, wanted by Bertrand-de-L'Isle (Saint Bertrand). It was extended with a gothic church in the 14th by Pope Clement V. Last, a Renaissance wooden church was added in the 16th century by bishop Jean de Mauleon.
It took 10 years to built the wooden choir, unveiled in 1535.
Made of 66 stalls, its sculptures represents various subjects (religious, mythologic or profane)
