Photographer's Note

Louis XIV in 1783 decided to build 3 piers to protect the Saint Jean de Luz bay against the storms. The Socoa pier (326 m long), Artha (258 m long) and Sainte Barde (390m long) are consolidated by stone cubes of 50 tons to resist to the Atlantic waves which can be up to 7 meters high; Their height is 9 m.
Here is a wave taken at the Socoa pier. I was not alone! Don't get too close, danger!!
