Photographer's Note

For about two months a lot of storms hit Brittany. Last week there were 3 storms : Petra, Qumeira and Ruth in the night from saturday to sunday ! The winds were strong (about 150 km/h on Finistère coast on Petra storm in the night from tuesday to wednesday !) and a lot of trees fell. But the biggest damages came from the strong swell and the heavy rains on already very wet grounds. Many floods caused damages in cities like Quimper, Landerneau, Morlaix, Quimperlé and Redon today. Storms are common in Brittany in winter, but such succeeding storms are quite rare !

But storms in Brittany also are one of the greatest natural show you could imagine ! Of course I made the most from the short lull periods saturday and sunday to take a few pictures. I took this one in Lomener, a little port close to Lorient on the south coast of Brittany. When the waves submerge the small dyke, you can feel the power of natural elements ! The place is very known from people from Lorient, so a lot of people come to enjoy the show on every storm. So this was my humble contribution to the many picture of Brittany on storm you can see on the internet on latest days. But nothing to see with the incredible ones the famous photographer Philip Plisson took last week. Have a look there ... and just enjoy !
