Photographer's Note
Good Morning Everyone,
Josselin is a picturesque town, on the banks of the river Ouest, dominated by a huge castle, still occupied by the owners , the Rohan family. Though the castle is the feature most often photographed, there are many attractive half-timbered houses to admire.
Though the light was difficult, I wanted to show this pretty, medieval character of Josselin.
My photograph shows the main hub of activity is the town, the square next to the Gothic Basilica Notre Dame du Roncier, whose stones can be seen on the left. Th brightly painted wood added to the visual effect. Other photographers seemed keen to record the old houses, too.
I climbed up to the top of the bell tower for panoramic views over the area, and will add a w/s of this view.
Have a good day, from a wet and windy U.K, Bev :-)

Hello Beverley,
Noticed right away how well managed the light and shadows through the old town street, brought out wondferul sight of the red wooden beams facades.
flags in light-blue and white off-set the red and brown dominating tones.
Wish you to have a nice weekend,
Ike

Hello Bev,
Good capture of this engaging square with its mix of half-timbered and stone façades, no doubt the subject of many of the postcards on sale at right. Good management of the light and shadow contrasts with well rendered colours and good clarity. Have a nice weekend, grey and decidedly soggy here today.

Hello Bev,
As always, a fascinating note, and this time three wonderful photographs to admire.
This looks to be a very inviting place to visit and your main image shows at least two photographers "just jostling to photograph Josselin". :o)
The half-timbered buildings are delightful and that day you were blessed with lovely bright and sunny weather and have managed the strong contrasts admirably. I very much like your two "ground level" images and you were also blessed with a very fine view of the castle after scaling that bell tower!
Excellent!
Kind Regards,
John.

Hello Bev,
The main activity in the hub of activity seems to be taking photos. Not surprisingly, considering the very pretty buildings lining the streets. And judging from the number of postcards on sale you were joined here by a fair number of other tourists. You handled the difficult light well, and both WS photos are also very attractive. The castle looks marvellous.
Kind regards,
Gert

Hello Beverley,
This town looks fantastic with its charming half-timbered houses and their red colours, the blue and white flags hanging in the square and the many postcards on offer at right. You were clearly not the only one taking pictures here! The light was very favourable as well. Great photo!

Hello, Bev.
A wonderful composition, which contrasts the seriousness of the stone of the Basilica on the left, with the color provided by the beautiful half-timbered houses, fascinating also the two photos of the WS, although I know this beautiful population, did not go up to the tower so which the view of the castle from above is new to me.
Very effective coloring, which highlights the details of the image.
Good management, both brightness and sharpness.
Very well done. I like it.
Enjoy the weekend.
My best wishes for you.

Hello Beverley,
Indeed these half timbered houses are a nice aspect of the town in their own right and the red and white colors are quite different from Alsace and Strasbourg. The many postcard stands suggest tourists have well and truly discovered this town. Tfs!

Dear Beverley,
Picturesque is really the perfect word for this photo. At first I thought it was Strasbourg. There is a street in the front of the Cathedral, which is a bit similar to this. Anyway, the people busy photographing give a humorous touch to the picture. They a bit seem like praying to a deiti. :)
Best Wishes,
Gy.

Hello Beverley,
This looks like a very charming square surrounded by beautiful architecture.
The warm red brown colour of some half-timbered houses provides a pleasant view.
Apparently they expect a lot of visitors given the many postcards that are for sale. Naturally, beautiful places are in the interest of many.
On the picture in the WS we are clearly immersed in a festive atmosphere.
Of course you had to climb the bell tower. A climb is a new challenge and the reward always consists of fantastic views. In this case you enjoyed a great view of the castle. Wonderful!
Best regards, Paul

Hello Beverley, this looks like a film set!
It is so clean and tidy, obviously a place that is very well cared for.
I like the inclusion of the fellow photographers as they take in the view.
Thanks for the extra shots which give us a feeling of the place.
Regards Jean.

Hi Bev,
great reportage from Josselin. I suppose it is relatively close from the UK, long but still a driving distance.
The houses have there charming red painted wooden elements. This color makes it so unique and picturesque. Other tourists seem to be excited about something they see above them.
The numerous stands with postcards indicate this place has many visitors. In UK postcards are much less popular. I remember not being able to buy a postcard in Manchester even though it does have some really photogenic spots and I am sure there are plenty of tourists getting there too.
Lovely town scene well selected, the workshop photos complement the main upload very well.
Excellent work,
M
