Photographer's Note

A previous upload, in b/w, featured this same couple deep in conversation, but it was not the first shot I took of these two. I first saw them while walking around the old covered market hall in Domme. There was something about their manner and earnest gesticulations which suggested they were not a married couple; their conversation seemed too animated, too urgent, somehow, and sure enough the gentleman eventually went on his way. I noticed the strong colour of the motorbike, echoed by the flowers in front of the window and beside the man, and decided to include these elements in the picture. The corner of the market wall on the right seemed also to give a suggestion of my eavesdropping on them, which is, I suppose, exactly what I was doing as I followed them for several minutes with my camera. Other parts of the almost over-restored town of Domme were busy with the increasing tourist trade, but this elderly pair seemed oblivious. I would have liked to know what they were discussing as they ambled about at the speed of time.
