Photographer's Note
Beaumont-du-Perigord (in Occitan Belmont Perigord) is a French commune, located in the department of Dordogne and the Aquitaine region, in south-western France.
The town of Beaumont-du-Perigord is located in the south of the Dordogne. The area is composed of many steep hills, whence the name Beaumont (meaning a good climb). The town's central square and the church are sited on the topmost of these hills.
It was founded as an English bastide in 1272 on behalf of Edward I, King of England, by Luc de Thaney, Seneschal of Guyenne. It is built in the form of an H, as in Henry. From either side of the central square run two streets (rue Foussal and rue Romieu) forming the two arms of the "H". This central square is surrounded by arcades called "angles" under which shops are set. Next to the square is the great fortified church of Saint-Laurent and Saint-Front, whose size appears somewhat excessive in relation to that of the city. The town still has remnants of its fortified walls and a medieval gateway recently restored – La Porte Luzier.

A pleasing street view, taken from a very good angle which creates a fine sense of depth. I like the single car in the picture - it looks so quiet it must be a Sunday afternoon on that Spring day a few years ago. Thanks for the map refs. I can see from it the location in relation to some of the places I do know, like Bergerac and Sarlat.

i see so many beautiful features in this scene. its too bad the sunlight is so harsh and bright in the sky.
