Photographer's Note

The walk in Chamonix continues with a lake not much known.
This lake is located at Les Pèlerins, in the town of Chamonix.
It results from the work of excavation completed at the time of the construction of the railway line in order to extract the ballast. The decision to build this line is made in 1893. Largest works relate to the construction of the two power stations (Servoz and Chavants). The inauguration of the section Saint Gervais - Chamonix took place on July 25, 1901. It is the Mont-Blanc Express.
Small lake but which has an exceptional panorama. All the chain of Mont-Blanc is reflected in its green water.
It is a very attended place of walk. Moreover it is next to a unit dedicated to the training and the improvement of the climbing.
Far away, at the bottom of this valley, it is Argentières and Switzerland...
