Photographer's Note
A morning photo of the buildings on Le Thiou Canal, which runs through the old town centre of Annecy. The backlight produced a nice effect, and seemed to light up the street lamps. The photo was taken early in the morning before the place began to swarm with tourists.

Well managed backlight with the shadows of the fence thrown forward. The flowers along the promenade add a lively splash of colour. Good sharpness and framing too. Tfs!

Your notes confirm the impression created by your photograph, the the town is just beginning to waken.
You chose an excellent viewpoint, where the flowers make an excellent focal point, just beginning to pick up the light of the low sun; and from there, it's possible to follow the flower baskets, along the railings, to a strong vanishing point.
The tall buildings alongside seem to be watching the progress of the sun.

We were on a coach trip through the French Alps and I thought we would stop overnight at Annecy but, sadly, we moved on several miles further east!

Hello Vincent, the morning light creates a good impression as we look along the street and the river bank.
The lack of people adds to that early morning feel.
The sunlight does seem to have lit up the street lamps which gives an interesting effect.
A very colourful scene.

Excellent shot looked even more splendid with the very early sun lighting up the background. The shadowed frontages are still showing such fine detail which you have captured in this well balanced canal scene. The strong backlight is indeed wonderful boosted by some rich colours! Well done

Great composition with these beautiful houses next to the canal, which has beautiful flowers on its railing, it is strange not to see people, when I visit the city in this same place there were always many people.

I had to pick this one, the way the gold light shines in the light posts is the best. That, along with the depth, the curve, the overall lighting...its just a very pleasing shot.
