Photographer's Note
I have printed the source code of the Trekearth website index page, and put it on a very old typewriter i have at my grandfather's house.
It creates a kind of a paradox that makes me laugh (ah ah...!)
By the way, the typewriter is a 90 year old Continsouza (a.k.a Contin), a french manufacturer in paris.
Note for those who love Movies and the history of image, Continsouza, after merger with several companies in the twenties, became a branch of the famous "Pathé" company (which still exists today) and was the inventor of the famous "Croix de Malte" mecanism, that was a big blow in the movie industry, and allowed tremendous headways in film manufacturing. (The logo of the company was actually a three-branch Croix de Malte, and eventually became a four-branch after the invention).

Thomas-
What an interesting concept. Not only that, but you pulled it off very well. Very good use of DOF. It is not too shallow, and not too deep.
Nice conversion to B&W also.

:))) good idea - that would be something, indeed - writing source code with a type writer ... we still have to figure out how the "View (page) source" command would work then :)
... anyhow, a good idea and well crafted image - nice 'contrast between the 'signs' of the new world and an older machinery
technically good perspective and eye-lead!
thanks,
dora

C'est une très belle création qui mériterait de trouver une place permanente à la page de garde de TE ! La qualité de la photo est exceptionnelle et il est vraiment agréable d'être si pret de cette machine d'un autre temps... A plus...

Hi Thomas,
The image embraces both old and new. The dof and the pocv are remarkable and the idea is quite creative. What's more, B/W gives it a timeless quality. All in all, it's really nice.
Regards.

Aah, yes, it reminds me of my own grandfather's stories of posting on TrekEarth in the old days--he would walk 5 kilometers down a dirt road, sometimes in the snow, carrying his photo lovingly in an envelope, to post it on TrekEarth, which was just a big bulletin board in town. People passing by would write their comments on the paper below the photo. You made do with what you had--if someone said the color was too saturated, you would just leave the photo in the sun until it faded. If you needed to remove telephone wires, there was no clone tool, but there were scissors. Of course you had to draw your own smilies, with a little green pen that hung by the bulletin board. People didn't travel much, so instead of countries the categories were "Around the Church", "Over by the School", and "Up the Road a Bit". Yes, it was a simpler time then. ;-)
The shot is nicely done--I like the amount of DOF, and the rich tones. Use of TE source code is a clever touch! Regards, Ken.
