The Tower is surrounded of various buildings of the 18th century; turn of trapezoidal plan on five levels: room of flour-milling, attic, staff waiting room, pigeon.
Abbey of Gellone in Saint-Guilhem-le-Désert, had an important real estate of which the sinkable and strengthened mill of Plancameil, mill clothier in XVe and XVIIe centuries then mill with corn and fullers with XVIIe and XVIIIe centuries.
Herault is a coastal river of south of France of 160 km length. It takes its source in the department of Gard, in the Solid mass of Aigoual to 1228 m of altitude. It is thrown in the Mediterranean in Agde in the department of Herault. It crosses a catchment area of 2900 km². Its very irregular flow is of 52 m3/s on average annual, but can reach 4000 m3/s at the time of strong risings.
After having been a descending torrent of the important slopes, it slips and is boxed in a valley bored in limestones of causses, then is spread out a little in the coastal plain. Its very irregular course and sometimes very violent one is not easy to domesticate. One finds however there some anciens moulins oubliés, built like fortresses to resist the fury of his spectacular risings.
Saint-Guilhem-le-Désert, in occitan Sant Guilhèm dau Desèrt, is a French common located in the department of the Herault of the Languedoc-Roussillon area, populated of 245 Saint-Guillaumois, distributed on 39 km², that is to say 6 hab./km².
Saint-Guilhem-le-Désert which counts among Plus Beautiful villages of France, is classified, since 1999, Grand National Site.
The abbey of Gellone, is registered today with the World Inheritance by the U.N.E.S.C.O., the title of the Ways of Saint-Jacob de Compostelle in France.

Hello Joël,
Quel tour au milieu de cette déferlante d'eau, très beau captage et cadrage, suberbe, les couleurs sont douces et pastel, j'aime beaucoup le petit banc qui tuas a mis dans le cadrage, superbe, avec l'arbre brillant qui penche, un bien bel ensmeble.

Bonjour Joel,
pour moi une decouverte, que le moulin peut etre fortifie, puis une avalanche de donnees dans ta note. Ainsi ta region est de plus en plus interessante et chatouille ma curiosite. La seule photo va bien dans ta galerie. Ici je pense a ton choix, a la lumiere, la position. La colline dans l'ombre rend la fortification plus evidente. On a envie de mouiller les pieds dans l'Herault. Merci ami, c'est beau et utile.

This is most unusual to see the mill at lower part of valley and bein submerged. Amazing how it can withstand the forces of water.
Very well captured view of the valley and the surrounding of this area to make it real and flawless, to convince that it is not pp work to cut and paste effort.

Belle composition autour de ce moulin et de son superbe environnement . Le débit important de l'eau est bien rendu . J'aime beaucoup le feuillage clair de l'arbre du premier plan , qui contraste avec la colline plus sombre .

Hello Joél,
Tout à fait interessant de voir ce moulin les pieds dans l'eau alors que je l'ai vu les pieds au sec cet été.Il est ici dans une belle lumière dans cet espace de nature qui ne manque pas de force et de beauté.
le cadrage est soigné.La note est consistante.
Merci de nous inviter à faire une pause sur ce banc au premier plan.

En voyant l'image, la première chose que j'ai pensée, c'est que ce tour de l'usine a été inondée par les eaux d'un réservoir, mais je ne l'ai pas lu quelque chose dans votre note que corrobore. Je me demande pourquoi il est dans le lit d'une rivière ... je suppose qu'il serait dans son banques, mais le fleuve se développe ...
Intéressant de capture et une excellente composition.

Delicious composition. The tower is so fine lit by the evening light and contrasts so well with the dark hill behind. That small tree to the right is what you neeeded to frame the Tower.
I'm curious about this sinkable mill, do you mean it was built in order that it could be submerged by the river?

A amazing sight. Man Abandonment vs Nature. Nice framing with the trees on both sides. Interesting also to see trees growing in the middle of the river. I saw a lot of olive trees in the south of France. The one on the rigth looks like an olive tree. Regards. Latiff.

Impressionnant cette vue qui passe l'idée de solitude et d'abandon. Cela pourrait aussi être classé dans la catégorie "ruines", non?
Les couleurs argentées de l'arbre, de l'eau et des roches donnent une allure atemporelle à l'image, réveillée par la luminosité du vert du côté gauche - très belle composition!

Bonjour Joël.
Je connaissais les ponts submersibles mais je ne savais pas qu'il existait des moulins submersibles. Cette photo est très belle avec ce saule blanc qui se penche sur l'Hérault. La tour a dû en voir des crues mais les anciens avaient tout prévu. J'aime la lumière sur cette tour.
