Photographer's Note
Thanks to JP (fayeulle), I have looked up the pictures that I took in the north of France. This is a typical flemish house (farm or workers house) in wood/claywork (don't know the real translation; french = colombage; dutch = vakwerk). This architecture was very common all along the northsea coast, but has only survived in a few places in the south of West-Flanders and the North of France. Where I live, the structure of this kind of houses is the same but the houses are completely made in bricks (none of these as in the picture survived). I was happily surprised to find this exceptional example in the center of the village.
Off course this kind of "fachwerk" exist(ed)s in other places, but there are significant differences in construction method with what can be found elsewhere in France or Belgium or Germany.

Hello Hendrik.
A fine and clean shot, I like the interesting facade with the wooden bars, and wspecially the middle level ones, which looks distorted somehow. I also like the roof and the created perspectve it makes. A very nice shott.

Excellent composition and amazing view with superb colours. It is a pitty that you have shadow at the right bottom corner but well conditions are not always perfect :) Very well captured.

Et bien voici une photo prise de l'autre coté de la rangée de maison que j'avais prise. C'est la seule dans le village qui garde cette architecture qui doit dater des années 1600/1650. Sa voisine est à colombage mais le mur est fait de briques et le toit est orné de chieds assis au lieu des vasistas (malheureusement modifiés par velux). L'ombre projetée provient d'une maison à l'architecture également interressante, enparticulier les ornements peints. Merci d'immortaliser ma région par la photo.

L'architecture de cette maison est effectivement surprenante pour cette région de France.Malgré l'ombre en bas à droite, l'image est très plaisante avec une très belle lumière mettant en valeur les détails de cette bele maison

I like this POV which packs the frame full of this house. This seems to be a really beautiful way to build a house. Lovely architecture and such a pleasant garden. And so much nature. Perhaps you should buy one for yourself Hendrik.

C'est toujours bien de voir une maison traditionnelle quelle que soit la region, ca contribue a la diversite de TE, celle ci est tres jolie, tu as un bon angle et tu as bien su gerer ces blancs eclatants, je pense que le terme anglais est "half timbered house".

Nog eentje uit uw oude serie, maar ik moet toegeven van groot kwaliteit, en zeer mooi van kleuren ook!
De vlaamse invloed juist over de grens is zeer groot, hier een van de weinige dat er nog staan met dit houten vakwerk, het is mooi gefotografeerd Hendrik, gezellig om naar te kijken, want anders moeten, wij naar Bokrijk om dit nog te vinden.

A pleasant showing of this traditional half-timbered house, Hendrik. The way of construction looks typical for the region and a bit different than the half-timbered houses from the area in which I live (SW Germany). Nice light and good details, also well exposed considering the sometimes difficult-to-handle mixture of strong sunlight and white surfaces.
