Photographer's Note

At the other end of the Champs de Mars is the Wall for Peace created by by artist Clara HALTER and architect
Jean-Michel WILMOTTE. It is inspired by the Wailing Wall of Jerusalem.

It seems like a strange configuration until you get in front of it and look at the Eiffel Tower through it.

Inaugurated in 2000, the monument has 'peace' written in 32 languages and 18 alphabets. The linear designs and silver finish contrast and yet complement the Tower and what it represents - a hope for global peace. Visitors can put their messages of peace in the chinks of the Wall that are planned for this purpose.
