Photographer's Note
Just a bit of fresh and humid grass in the middle of the actual hot and dry summer we have all over Europe. Agriculture starts to suffer from this unusual situation and water restrictions already exist in some countries. This grass snake found last spring loves humid prairies not too far from some water source. Just a bit of observation where they are, and they don't make any problem in front of the camera. Very placid and totally harmless. This one was about 50cm.

Nice shot! Isn't this a slow-worm, rather than a grass snake? Maybe the common names are different in France? Natrix natrix is a grass snake here in the UK. Anyway, no complaints about the photo, so :-D

Yes Adrian, this looks like a slow worm, not really a worm, nor a snake either, but a variety of legless lizard, it's a great shot though!
excellent.

joli portrait d'orvet ! les vrais serpents ont le cou bien marqué, quand j'etais gamin on en trouvait beaucoup dans les coteaux de Bennecourt !
