I love the "monster", well done! In England this would be called a petunia. I'm undecided as to whether more or less DOF would have helped here. Nicely done :-)

It is honestly the title of this photo that makes me like it soooo much! The green lines in the petals creates visual movement towards the little "monster!"
I've added this as one of my fav.
