Combined action of frost and snow accumulation has a name in Finnish: Tykky. This phenomenon can be observed around forest line from 250 m a.s.l up to forest line about 400-450 m a.s.l. in region the region globaly delimited by Rovaniemi - Ylitornio - Kittilä - Salla - Kuusamo - Sotkamo - Pudasjärvi.
In fact, this phenomenon can also be observed in southern finland , but there is not so much hills with sufficient elevation. In Koli national Park (http://luontoon.fi/page.asp?Section=6834) and aslso in Lauhanvuori, this phenomenon can be observed.
A famous place to observed "tykky" is riisitunturi National Park near Posio, but any hills of the region above 300 meters a.s.l is perfect.
So take your skis or you snow shoes!

we can from time to time observe the "tkky" here in Norway too.
This is a really great shot, with nice lighting, a shot that really shows how the winter can be.

Gorgeous! Love the note too explaining this all - the combined action of frost and snow - how strong those trees must be to support all that extra weight. Wonderful capture of this scene, especially with this light!
